Colonial Metal Products, Inc. specializes in custom and production slitting of a wide range of carbon steel products including Tin Plate, Galvanneal, Galvanized, Electrogalvanized, Cold Rolled, Pre-painted and Hot Rolled Pickle and Oiled.
As a provider of the tin plate coil to various window manufacturers across the United States and Canada, Colonial Metal Products, Inc. provides customers with assistance in setting up ordering programs and provides guidance on footage conversion as well as individualized ready-to-ship programs.
The late William (Bill) J. Thomas, Jr., CEO, founded Colonial Metal Products in 1990 to fill a niche in the market. Bill built his company on the primary principles of providing exceptional customer service with quality products and continual improvement. The Colonial Metal Products team is still dedicated to serving customers by implementing these principles.

Colonial Metal Products operates 2 modern Braner slitting lines which include 45-foot looping pits, X-ray gauge technology and tension stands with both drag and rotary roll tension for pre-painted adhesive coated or any other critical surface material. Slitters handle various gauges of steel from .008 in. min. to .185 in. max. and can provide slit widths from .500 inches to 52 inches. Overhead cranes can handle coils up to 50,000 lbs. The Colonial team also works with customers to develop an inventory management system to store material in our atmospherically controlled environment, ready to ship to meet customer production requirements.
Colonial operates 2 shifts (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) Monday through Friday. Shipping hours are 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Colonial Metal Products, Inc. aided Glass Equipment Development (GED) in the Research and Development of the Intercept® IG Spacer System in the early 1990’s. Colonial Metal Products, Inc.’s owner, Bill Thomas, personally worked with the engineers at GED to help them come up with the steel product that would work effectively and efficiently on the Intercept® IG Spacer System. He even went to the extent of loading small coils of steel in the trunk of his car and hand delivering them to GED to run on their prototype line.
